    Hospital Doula Services

If you transfer care for medical or personal reasons, or desire to birth your baby in the hospital, you can have me attend your birth as a doula. Doulas provide ongoing emotional and physical support throughout your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum but do not provide medical care to the mom or baby. By hiring a midwife for your hospital birth, you can ensure the best possible care in a medical setting.

I am committed to you regardless of the setting, be it home or hospital, because I want to be where women are giving birth. The majority of women in Northern CA and the US birth their babies in hospitals, with approximately 1-2 % birthing at home and 5% of all births in the US taking place with midwives. This number contrasts the number of overall babies born into the hands of midwives, approximately 85% worldwide. Personally as a midwife, I’d love to see the number of homebirths in Humboldt County rise to at least 5-10% as pregnant women gain access to optimal prenatal care through midwifery.

Consider hiring a professional doula for your hospital birth, whether you are delivering at Mad River, St Josephıs, or Redwood Memorial Hospitals. Go to: www.humboldtdoulas.com for further information and resources. Doulas matter and make a big difference in lowering surgical birth rates, which are at an all-time high currently.
